A Note from the Founder

As the founder of The Living History Project, I am driven by a deep sense of purpose and a strong belief in the power of preserving our nation's history. Every time I read an obituary in the morning papers or witness the destruction of neighborhoods and iconic structures due to modernization and redevelopment, I feel a profound sense of sadness and loss. Each death, each demolished building, represents a story that will never be told, a piece of our collective memory that will remain unknown.

This is why I started The Living History Project. We need to capture the stories and experiences of the people and places that shaped our nation before it's too late. By creating a digital archive that everyone can access, we ensure that these stories are not only saved but also given new life, inspiring and teaching future generations.

However, this project is still evolving. We are learning along the way, and there will be mistakes and challenges. We are a small team with a limited budget, and we know that we can't do this alone. We need your help, suggestions, and advice to make this project better. We hope that you will forgive us for our errors and join us on this journey.

Through The Living History Project, we aim to show that preserving our history is not just about nostalgia; it's about ensuring we have a strong foundation to build our future on. Our project serves as a reminder that our history is a living, breathing part of who we are, shaping our identity and guiding us as we face the challenges of today and work towards a better tomorrow.

By saving the stories of our nation's heroes and the memories tied to our iconic structures, we ensure that their legacies live on. We are protecting the stories of our past, honoring those who came before us, and making sure we have strong roots to grow from.

The Living History Project is a time capsule for the future, a gift to the generations that will come after us. When we listen to the stories of our elders and record the memories of those who have lived through significant moments in our nation's history, we gain invaluable insights into our present and future.

This is why I am so passionate about The Living History Project. It is essential to ensure that our nation's story continues to be told, even as the world around us changes. By preserving our history, we are not just honoring the past; we are investing in the future. This is my mission, and I am committed to seeing it through, even though I know it won't be perfect. We are driven by the necessity of the job to be done immediately, and we hope that you will join us, forgive us for our mistakes, and help us make this project the best it can be.

Yours Humbly,

Bobby YP Wong
