Surrealist Painter & Songwriter

S. Amin Shahab is a visual artist dealing primarily with surrealist art and a prolific songwriter. The Batu Pahat native studied at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore and Universiti Malaya. He has participated in over 20 art exhibitions in Malaysia and regionally, with four solo exhibitions in Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and Singapore. He was inducted into the Malaysian Book of Records for producing the longest painting, measuring 1km, in the country. 

S. Amin is famed for songs he has written for some of the country’s finest performers. To date, he has written a total of 1000 songs for the likes of Alleycats, Search, Ella, Awie, Headwind, Francesca Peter, Datuk Shake, Iklim, Fauziah Latiff, Jamal Abdillah, Lefthanded and his relative, M. Nasir. Songs such as Andainya sung by Francesca Peter, Kejora by Search, Suci Dalam Debu and Umpama Mimpi dalam Mimpi sung by Damasutra have been hailed as classics. For his efforts, the MACP awarded S. Amin with the prestigious Anugerah Nadi Cipta Badan Perlindungan Hakcipta Karyawan Malaysia.
