Ilse Noor, born in 1941 in Wipperfürth, Germany, is a celebrated fine artist known for her exceptional work in etching and printmaking. With a career spanning several decades, Ilse has made significant contributions to the world of graphic fine art, earning her a reputation as an international master etcher and printmaker.
Ilse Noor's artistic journey began with her studies under H. Stucke in Bonn, Germany, followed by her training in graphic art under Professor Franz Nagel at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München in Munich. Her early influences included German realism and the works of artists like Ernst Fuchs and Alfred Kubin. These inspirations shaped her unique style, characterized by intricate details and a deep sense of storytelling.
In the 1970s, Ilse Noor emigrated to Malaysia, where she continued to develop her craft and immerse herself in the local culture. Her semi-autobiographical works often depict landscapes, animals, buildings, and objects, each carrying a deeper, hidden meaning. Ilse's art reflects her love for her adopted culture, blending the precise art of etching with a world of emotions and spiritualism.

In 1991, she published a series of 24 etchings of historical buildings commissioned by Shell Companies Malaysia in the "Warisan Nusa Shell Book of Malaysian Heritage." This project highlighted the importance of preserving Malaysia's historical buildings and garnered awareness for conservation efforts.
