First amputee to conquer Mount Kinabalu, First Malaysian Amputee to climb Everest
A hip-disarticulation amputee who survived cancer, Melvin hails from Malaysia and has a positive attitude towards life. He holds the Malaysia Book of Records for being the first amputee to scale Mount Kinabalu, Malaysia's highest peak.
He was also honored as Ball's Watch - Men of Substance 2010 in collaboration with Men's Uno Magazine, along with three other remarkable individuals. In 2011, he received the F&N's Out-Do Yourself Award (OYA) in the category of Nation Building for his efforts to foster harmony and unity among Malaysians. The award aims to acknowledge and celebrate individuals who have an exceptional outlook on life and encourage a culture of recognition for outstanding performance.
Besides his inspiring personality, Melvin is also an established business owner. He owns and runs CarBnb a rental car service which has won him 15 awards.
